Language, password and two-factor protection, plus answers to common questions

Click your name at the top right and choose “Account & security”.

7.1 Light or dark, and the language of miraCMS

Under “Appearance”, “Theme” switches between “Light” and “Dark”.

“Interface language” switches miraCMS between “Deutsch” and “English”. As the page says: “Applies to the CMS only, not to the website”. Your website keeps its languages, those are set per text (Chapter 13). The choice is saved with your login and follows you to every device.

miraCMS has no Thai interface. Logins from Thailand get English.

7.2 Changing your password

Under “Change password”, enter your current password, then the new one (at least 8 characters) twice. “👁 Show” reveals what you typed, in case of a typo. Then press the “Change password” button below the fields.

7.3 Two-factor protection (2FA)

With 2FA, signing in needs a six-digit code from an app on your phone as well as your password. Someone who learns your password still cannot get in. miraCMS recommends it itself: “Recommended, it protects your account even if the password leaks.”

Under “Two-factor authentication (2FA)”, press “Set up”
Confirm your current password and press “Continue”
Scan the QR code with an authenticator app, for example Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy or the iCloud keychain. If the app cannot scan, type the secret shown below the code by hand
Keep the ten recovery codes safe: “Copy” or “Download as .txt”. Each code works once
Enter the six-digit code from the app and press “Turn on 2FA”

From then on, miraCMS asks for a code at every sign-in. Lost your phone? Type a recovery code in place of the app code.

To switch it off, press “Turn off” and confirm with your password. Your login is then protected by the password alone.

At the bottom of the page, under “Session”, or with “Sign out” in the menu under your name.

7.5 Frequently asked questions

I forgot my password. miraCMS has no “forgot password” button. Write to us and we set a new one.

I changed something, why does my website look the same? Saving and publishing are two steps (Chapter 6 for the catalogue, Chapter 11 for texts). Without the right to publish, miraTEQ publishes for you.

Can I change the texts on my pages? Yes, from Chapter 8 on, if editing is switched on for your login.

A photo looks blurry. Upload a larger, sharper original. miraCMS makes it smaller for the web by itself, but it cannot make it sharper.

Does it work on a phone? Yes. For longer texts, a computer or a tablet is more comfortable.

A bar says “A new version is available.” Press “Update now”. miraCMS reloads and keeps what you were typing.

What is the box “New since your last update”? Short notes on what changed in miraCMS. “Dismiss” hides it.
